LEONARD, Thomas Pte. 15659

Thomas Leonard is recorded on the 1911 Census as living at 4 Northumberland Street in Chorley with his 68 year old father and 32 year old sister, Mary Ann. Thomas was born in Chorley in 1880, the son of Irish born parents Thomas and Mary. Prior to enlisting with the Pals he was working as a Plasterer in the Building Trade.

He was known to have been wounded at some stage in the war, being taken prisoner by the Germans in the line near Hazebrouck in France on the 12th April 1918.

He died in Chorley in 1950, aged 71.
