IDDON, Thomas Pte. 15654

Thomas Iddon was born at Hanging Bridges in Croston in 1872.

He married Evelyn Eastham at St. Peter & St. Paul’s Church, Ormskirk in 1900, setting up home in Westhead Terrace, Croston. He was living in Chorley and worshipped at St. James’ Church when he enlisted in the Pals in 1914.

Thomas Iddon died on the 9th February 1920, being buried in St. Michael’s Churchyard in his native Croston; his grave being marked with the distinctive CWGC headstone and East Lancashire Regiment badge.

His widow, Evelyn re-married in 1922 to William Thornley, a member of the family who owned Thornley’s the Butchers in Chorley.
