Richard Barron was born in Rufford on the 4th February 1891, being baptised at St. Mary’s the Virgin Church in the village.
He was the eldest son of Annie and Daniel Barron and was living at Rufford upon enlisting with men from Croston on the 26th September 1914, going to Caernarvon in February as a Private but is on the Pals scroll in Astley Hall as a Corporal. He served on the Somme and was known to have been wounded sometime during the war.
Richard married Mary Iddon at Holy Trinity Church, Tarelton in 1917; he died at Tarleton in 1949.
