Henry Sharrock is listed as Sharrocks in the Chorley Guardian and on the Chorley Pals scroll in Astley Hall.
He was born in Croston in 1897, the son of Margaret and Henry Sharrock; they had five children. In 1901 the family lived at Grape Lane but by 1911 they were living at 11 Club Street in Croston. Henry worked as a Weaver and attended St. Michael’s Church in the village.
It is not possible to ascertain if he went over the top at Serre on the 1st July 1916 but it was reported that he was wounded in August that year.
