Daniel Bryers was born at Rainford near St. Helens on the 2nd October 1880 (although some Census records show 1883), one of two children born to his parents Margaret and John (a farmer). In 1901 he was living with his parents at Toogood Farm in Wrightington, working at a Colliery.
He married Anne Haydock at St. James’s Church in the village during 1903 – they eventually had three children, joining Ann’s daughter, Miriam, from a previous marriage. In 1911 they were at White Gate in Charnock Richard, although he was living in Chorley and attending St. George’s Church in the town upon enlisting into the Pals in 1914.
He was known to have been wounded during the war. Daniel died at Chorley in 1947.
