Daniel Farnworth was born in Chorley in1891, living at 44 Tootell Street in the town according to the 1901 Census.
He was the son of Daniel and Mary and the youngest of their six children. By 1911, the family were living at School Lane in Euxton and Daniel (Junior) was working in a Bleachworks.
He reached the rank of Corporal in the Pals but ended the war as a Colour Sergeant in the Machine Gun Corps, serial number 10784. Daniel is on the Accrington Observer list dated 23rd February 1915, showing men who left Chorley to go to Caernarvon for training on that day.
