Evan Harrison was one of seven brothers who served in the First World War – three in the Chorley Pals.
Evan was born in the town in late 1894 and lived with his parents at 2 Salisbury Street, worshipping at Hollinshead Street Church. Emilda Alice and James William Harrison had nine children in all and were still at 2 Salisbury Street in 1911; on that Census, Evan was described as an Office Clerk.
A search of the Lancashire BMD (Births Deaths & Marriages) records showed that an Evan Harrison married a Blanche Croxson at Salford during 1918. It is not possible to determine whether Evan was at Serre on the 1st July 1916 as he was known to have transferred to the Machine Gun Corps as Private 10771.
