Joseph Rostron enlisted at Chorley on the 23rd September 1914, becoming a close friend of fellow Chorley Pal, Seth Rollins. Joseph was wounded sometime in the war but stayed in the Army until the 27th January 1919.
He was born in Chorley in 1892, the youngest of three children of Alice and Thomas Rostron. In 1901 Joseph lived at 3 Devonshire Road with his father being described as a Joiner. By 1911 Joseph had become a Joiner and lived with his parents at 11 William Street in Chorley, attending St. George’s Church.
