W. Rostron is on the Pals scroll in Astley Hall but not listed by the Accrington Observer as going to Caernarvon in February 1915.
Local searches reveal only one W. Rostron was living in Chorley in 1911 – William Rostron of 21 Lawson Street was born in the town in 1898 and would have been just 16 when war broke out and under-age to enlist (it is possible that his true age was found out).
